Where I Stand on the Issues

Abortion – I do not believe that this should be a federal issue and it is only a federal issue due to the Roe vs. Wade decision of 1973. The government should neither provide funding to abortion providers, nor should the government fund "abortion alternative facilities".

Budget & Economy – I fully support a balanced budget and return to the Gold Standard.

Civil Rights – I believe that all people should be treated equally under the law, no person should be given preferential treatment, nor discriminated against for any reason.

Corporations & Jobs – End Corporate Welfare, allow a business to succeed or fail without governmental interference.

DC Voting Rights – Washington DC should be retro-ceded to fit within the “10 miles square” as prescribed by the Constitution, putting all residents in Maryland. The only land left within the District should be Government Offices, Museums and Parks.

Drugs – ALL Federal Drug laws should be repealed; there were none until the early 20th Century. The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 was ruled Unconstitutional in 1969. In 1970, however,President Nixon was successful in getting Congress to pass the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970, and States were forced to adopt the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. These sets of laws are a blatant violation of the 9th and 10th Amendments.

Education – The Federal Department of Education should be abolished, as it is not authorized to exist under the Constitution.

Energy & Oil – The United States should be energy independent, this can be accomplished by using viable alternative energy sources that do not need to be imported from other countries, and allowing drilling/mining for oil and coal in places known to have them. However, tax-payer funding should not be used to supply private-industry the funding needed to develop these alternatives.

Foreign Policy – The sovereignty of all nations should be respected, and in the spirit of our Founding Fathers; I will promote a policy of “Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none.”

Free Trade – Free Trade Agreements, should be Fair Trade Agreements! Free Trade Agreements only operate as such when the countries trading have currencies that are close to being on par.

Government Reform – The Government should be transparent and free of corruption.

Gun Control – All law abiding citizens have a Constitutional Right to possess firearms.

Health Care – Is an individual responsibility.

Immigration – I welcome everyone that comes to this country LEGALLY; I support a uniform immigration policy, so that people from all countries have the same procedures for becoming legal citizens.

Self Determination – I I believe that all people should be allowed to decide how they are governed. All territories, (as well as formerly Independent States (Hawai'i, California, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky and Vermont) and all Native American Indian tribes) should be given a Statehood/Independence vote in a two-step process. First; the residents would be asked whether to change the status of the territory. Second; if a majority wish to change status, residents will decide between Statehood and Independence. (Formerly Independent States and Native American Tribes would be given the option of becoming Territories if they wish to change status).

Social Security – Every individual should be responsible for his/her own retirement, therefore, the Social Security for each person should be put into a private account, such as a 401k or Money Market Account. All taxpayers under the age of 45 should be given the option of opting out of the Social Security Program.

Tax Reform – Ideally the IRS and income taxes would be repealed and replaced with nothing. However, until that happens, I support a 10% flat tax along with a 1% National Retail Sales Tax; and a reduction in the size of the Federal Government by at least 30%.

United Nations – Withdraw immediately!

War & Peace – The only time that the military should be sent into battle is after an official Declaration of War. The United States military should never be used as a worldwide police force.

Welfare & Poverty – Federal tax-payer funding for welfare should be phased out as quickly as possible.
